According to Korean media reports, the latest data released by SNE Research, a Korean market research agency, shows that the global power battery installation capacity reached 162 GWh in the first eight months of 2021, up 2.4 times year-on-year; the power battery installation capacity in August was 25.2 GWh, up 2.2 times year-on-year.
From January to August, the top five manufacturers in terms of power battery installed capacity were: CATL (30.3%), LG (24.5%), Panasonic (11.1%), BYD (10%), and SK Innovation (5.5%).
Samsung SDI's market share declined compared to the previous period, ranking 6th with 3.4%. the global market share of the three Korean battery giants from January to August was 34.8% in total.
